Abu Mohammed al-Adnani
Abu Mohammed al-Adnani was born in Syria in 1977. He was killed by a US airstrike in Syria's Aleppo Province on August 30, 2016. The U.S. Justice Department had been offering up to $5 million as reward for information that would bring him to justice. He was also known as Taha Sobhi Falaha and Taha al-Banshi. He was a senior leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). He had been the official spokesman and main conduit for disseminating official messages. He disseminated ISIL’s declaration of the creation of an Islamic Caliphate. He was one of the first foreign fighters to oppose Coalition Forces in Iraq before becoming ISIL’s spokesman.
