Adam Gadahn was killed in January 2015 in a CIA drone strike in Pakistan that also accidentally killed an innocent hostage. He was born as Adam Pearlman in Southern California on September 1, 1978. He became Osama Bin Laden’s English language spokesman, cultural interpreter, and media advisor. On propaganda videos, he called himself Azzam the American. In a video released on March 7, 2010, he praised the Fort Hood shooter as a model for all Muslims. As a youth, Adam played little league baseball and participated in home school support groups. As an adolescent, he became a death metal music fan, even forming his own band and contributing to online music reviews. At the University of California at Irvine, Adam participated in the counter culture movement. Adam converted to Islam in 1990 and became radicalized during studies in Pakistan.
