His life ended on September 30, 2011 in the violent blast of a CIA-directed air strike on a convoy deep in the heart of Yemen. Anwar al-Awlaki praised Nidal Hasan for his rampage at Fort Hood. He influenced three of the 9-11 attackers as well as John Walker Lindh (aka "the American Taliban") and the Christmas Day "Underwear Bomber." He served as Vice President for a charitable organization accused of supporting terrorism. He had BS and MA degrees from Colorado State University and San Diego State University respectively. He was working on a doctorate at George Washington University in 2006 when he returned to Yemen under a cloud of FBI investigations. In the Washington D.C. area, he headed an Islamic center and was the Muslim Chaplain at George Washington University. His English fluency and Internet savvy gave him global influence. On Facebook, after the Fort Hood shootings, he had over 5000 fans. In Yemen he taught at Al Iman University, where many terrorists and assassins have been educated. He corresponded by e-mail with Nidal Hasan. In April 2010, the Obama administration placed him on a CIA hit list in spite of his U.S. citizenship.
