Fazul was killed on June 7, 2011 in Somalia. He was carrying weapons, maps, operational materials, and tens of thousands of dollars at the time. He was born on the Comoro Islands in the early 70s, and trained for terrorism by Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. He was one of the conspirators in the 1998 bombing of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. He speaks French, Swahili, Arabic, English, and Comoran, and he is skilled with computers. He probably bombed the Mombassa Paradise Hotel and fired missiles at an Israeli jetliner in Mombassa, Kenya in 2002. In 2004, he was thought to be plotting attacks in the United States. Since then has been tracked to diamond dealings in Liberia and unrest in Somalia. The latest rumors had him back in the Comoro Islands.
