Nazih Abdul-Hamed Nabih al-Ruqai'I

Nazih Abdul-Hamed Nabih al-Ruqai'i was also known as Anas al-Liby. He died on January 2, 2015 at a New York hospital while in custody and awaiting trial. He had been captured in Libya by U.S. Special Forces on October 4, 2013. He was born in Tripoli, Libya in 1964. During the 1990s he received asylum in the United Kingdom. He became a scout for Al Qaeda, and conducted surveillance of British, French, Israeli, and American targets in Nairobi prior to the bombing of the US embassy there in 1998. He was a senior level al-Qaeda operative worth $5 million on the U.S. Justice Department's "most wanted" list. He probably returned to Libya to fight against Gadhafi after hiding in Afghanistan for many years. He spoke Arabic and English and was a computer engineer.
