Oumar Ould Hamaha
Oumar Ould Hamaha was likely killed in a shootout with French forces in March 2014. In 2013, the U.S. Department of Justice was offering $3 million for information leading to his location. In 2014 he was quietly dropped from that list. He used to be a member of al-Qaida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). He became the spokesperson for an AQIM offshoot group called the Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa (MUJWA). He participated in kidnappings of foreigners for ransom, including the kidnapping of Canadian diplomat Robert Fowler from Niamey, Niger, in December 2008. He had also made threats against Westerners in Mali and had been associated with the abduction of Europeans in the region. He was born in 1963. He was from Mali.
